A. Write a 500 word essay on a quotidian topic of your choice (separate from your ruminative essay). Walk around the topic as thoroughly as you can, consider different perspectives and situations.
B. Go to http://inscape.byu.edu/ and read an essay of your choice. Respond to the essay: discuss how it worked, your favorite parts, how it is different and similar to the essays you have written, or what the essay made you think about.
C. Susan J. Tweit is an interesting nature writer. Visit one of her blogs http://susanjtweit.typepad.com/walkingnaturehome/ or http://communityoftheland.blogspot.com/ and read about 500 words (a post or two) to learn how she incorporates research and insight into her writing. Then rework one of your paragraphs to make smooth transitions between your research knowledge and your personal reflections.
